Globe chief is highest ranked Pinoy in 'Power 100' list
MANILA, Philippines - Globe Telecom President and CEO Ernest Cu is the highest ranked Filipino in the 2013 list of the 100 most powerful people in telecoms worldwide.
The Power 100, an annual list done by London-based magazine Global Telecoms Business, recognizes the world's leading executives and business leaders that "take fast courageous decisions to ensure they fulfill the expectations of customers, shareholders and employees — despite all the uncertainty around us."
Ranked 1st overall was AT&T's CEO Randall L. Stephenson for the second time in four years.
PLDT CEO Napoleon Nazareno, the only other Filipino on the list, placed 95th.
Cu is also among the 12 finalists for the CEO of the Year category in the 2013 World Communications Awards.
“Our chosen path to position Globe as a challenger brand has been successful and our efforts are being recognized globally. Our transformation efforts and the business gains we have achieved over the past several years despite heightened competition have created a stronger, preferred brand for our customers,” said Cu.
At the end of 2013's first half, Globe Telecom’s total mobile subscriber base reached a record high, exceeding 36 million. The company’s total subscriber base of 36.1 million at the end of June this year is a 14% increase from 2012.
