Tagbilaran port suffers 'heavy' damage - Abaya
MANILA, Philippines - The Tagbilaran port in Bohol suffered "heavy" damage, while the runway at Mactan-Cebu international airport reportedly had cracks due to the earthquake, according to Transportation Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya.
Despite the cracks on the runway, Abaya said the Mactan-Cebu airport has been cleared for operations.
"Ang initial report na may crack ang runway. But just the fact na clinear ang landing and takeoff sa Cebu airport, there's no problem sa runway," he told dzMM.
A magnitude 7.2 quake jolted parts of Visayas and Mindanao on Tuesday morning.
Operations at the Tagbilaran airport in Bohol, however, were limited after some parts of the ceiling.
"Ang Tagbilaran, I think hindi pa open... I think once malinis, i-clear din ang operations ng Tagbiliran," Abaya said.
As for the Tagbilaran port, Abaya said it suffered heavy damage.
"May report si GM Sta. Ana na ang may heavy damage ay Tagbilaran port. Na-damage sa RORO facilities and in fact umalis sa port area yun PPA personnel... Patuloy ang assessment kasi may aftershocks pa rin," he said
