National Treasurer: PH ready to sell dollar bonds in 2014
MANILA – The Philippines could return to the offshore debt market next year to raise funds after skipping a dollar bond sale this year.
National Treasurer Rosalia de Leon said 2014 could be a good time to sell dollar bonds, with the country's borrowing costs lower than its peers after the Philippines earned three investment grade ratings.
De Leon said they will be ready to take advantage of "windows of opportunity" even as she noted there will be continued market volatility, until the US finds a lasting resolution to its debt problems.
The country plans to sell $1 billion in global bonds next year and another $1.2 billion from development lenders. -- ANC
