MANILA, Philippines - Andrew Tan-led Emperador International's Spanish unit has acquired 409 hectares of vineyard land in the province of Madrid, Spain.
Grupo Emperador Spain S.A. earlier this year acquired 509 hectares of vineyard in Toledo, Spain. This brings to more than 900 hectares of vineyard the company has so far bought in Spain.
Jorge Domecq Bohórquez, managing director of Emperador International, said the company is building more vineyards to support its brand production in Spain.
He said the company is eyeing to double its sales volume for Emperador Deluxe Spanish Edition, which is produced and bottled in Spain.
"We are very satisfied with the Philippine market's reception for our Emperador Deluxe Spanish Edition, an Emperador product that is produced and bottled in Spain. Sales of this product have exceeded our expectations since we launched it in the Philippines a few months ago. We expect to more than double our sales volume for Emperador Deluxe next year.”
The Emperador official said they are preparing to launch Emperador Deluxe in Vietnam next year.
Earlier, Emperador executive director Kendrick Tan said the company is planning to make Emperador a global brand.
Emperador Distillers is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tan's Alliance Global Group Inc., a conglomerate with interests in liquor, real estate, resorts and gaming, and fast food restaurants.
