Last installment of P30 wage hike takes effect Nov 1
MANILA, Philippines - Metro Manila workers will get an additional P10 increase in daily wages starting November 1.
Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) president Democrito Mendoza reminded employers that the remaining P10 of the P30 wage increase ordered for Metro Manila workers last June 3 will take effect starting Thursday.
This will bring the minimum wage for Metro Manila workers to P456 for non-agricultural workers and P419 for agricultural workers.
The wage order also raises to P419 the minimum wage for those Metro Manila workers working in private hospitals with bed capacity of 100 or less, retail/service establishments employing 15 workers or less, manufacturing establishments regularly employing less than 10 workers.
Despite the increase, the TUCP said a Filipino family of 6 needs at least P993 pesos each day to "live a decent life."
