CAAP: Aman Futures applied for an airline permit
MANILA, Philippines - The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines has divulged that controversial trading firm Aman Futures Holdings Inc. has applied for a license to operate an airline with the Civil Aeronautics Board and CAAP.
CAAP chief William Hotchkiss said Aman Futures/Aman Air first applied for a franchise with the CAB and while waiting for it also applied an air operations certificate with CAAP.
Both applications were denied despite getting a favorable recommendation from the hearing officer for a 5-year certificate of public convenience and necessity to operate non-scheduled domestic air transport service.
Aman Air has listed a KingAir B200 as its sole airplane.
The Department of Justice had earlier said it will create a panel to investigate Aman Futures, the company behind a P12 billion pyramiding scam that left thousands of victims in Visayas and Mindanao.
