MANILA - The Philippines' farm output grew an annual 1.55% in the third quarter of the year, higher than the revised 0.67% expansion in the second quarter, the agriculture department said on Monday.

Paddy rice production grew 1.5% year-on-year in the third quarter to 3.519 million tons and corn output was up 5.17% to 2.37 million tons.

The agriculture sector accounts for around a fifth of the domestic economy. The Philippines is scheduled to officially announce full third-quarter GDP data on Nov. 26.
