MANILA, Philippines - The local manufacturer of beverage giant Pepsi Co. is spending P350 million to expand its production plant in northern Mindanao.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Thursday, Pepsi Cola Products Philippines Inc. (PCPPI) said its board has approved a resolution to add a production line to its Cagayan de Oro plant to expand its manufacturing capacity.

The expanded Cagayan de Oro plant is seen to boost the production of non-carbonated drinks by 6 million cases annually, which PCPPI said is enough to meet the company's requirements for the next 5 years.

PCPPI currently operates 11 production plants throughout the country. Last year, the company expanded the capacities of its plants in Iloilo and central Luzon.

Earlier, PCPPI president Micky Yong said the company is spending P2 billion to increase its production of non-carbonated drinks.

Of the amount, P1.5 billion has been allotted for capital expenditures while the remaining P500 million will be used to expand capacities in Mindanao and to launch new non-carbonated beverages. (Read: Pepsi to spend P2-B to boost production)

Some of PCPPI's non-carbonated brands include Gatorade, Lipton Iced Tea, Tropicana, Propel, and Sting. On the other hand, the company's softdrink brands include Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Light, Pepsi Max, 7Up, and Mountain Dew.
