Toshiba to set up sales base in Myanmar
TOKYO - Toshiba Corp. plans to set up a sales base in Myanmar, which is expected to achieve strong economic growth, company officials said Thursday.
Toshiba will decide the details of its business strategy there through market research over home electric appliances and social infrastructure-related equipment, they said.
As an increasing number of Japanese businesses have moved into Myanmar, Toshiba's rival Hitachi Ltd. has set up a group branch in Yangon, the largest city in Myanmar. That unit began operating last month.
