MANILA, Philippines -- For the past 25 years, TV Patrol has been serving Filipinos around the world, delivering the hottest and most important stories to those who need it most.
The program expanded its reach beyond traditional media in 2010, and June 30, 2012 will mark the second year that TV Patrol officially entered the virtual cloud.
Coincidentally, June 30 is also being celebrated around the world as “Social Media Day,” with netizens staging “tweetups” and other gatherings to honor technological and communication advancements afforded by the phenomenon that is social media.
Viewers around the world, affectionately known as “TVPeeps,” converged on social media via the TV Patrol page on Facebook and its account on Twitter, and watched video clips and read transcripts of stories on the program’s microsite on ABS-CBNnews.com.

News became more interactive, and communication between the program and its viewers grew.
Since its birth in 2010, the TV Patrol page on Facebook now has 235,402 Likes as of this article’s posting, and the program’s Twitter account is currently followed by 145,834 netizens.
The TV Patrol community’s growth on social media could only be one of the things the program is most thankful for, as aside from fueling viewership, genuine discussions on the news items have been triggered, in turn helping fuel positive changes in the real world.
Conversations on social media extend to the TV Patrol chat, where TVPeeps converge to discuss stories as they see them on the program’s live stream.
This June 30, 2012, TV Patrol and ABS-CBN join people around the world in celebrating Social Media Day, and also honor its viewers and supporters on social media.
