MANILA, Philippines - South Korean pop star Psy welcomed 2013 performing his hit song "Gangnam Style" with rapper MC Hammer in front of thousands of revelers in Times Square, New York City on New Year's Eve.

But was this performance the beginning of the end of "Gangnam Style?"

On his official Twitter, Psy called the performance at Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve as #GangnamFinale.

In an interview on MTV News, Psy hinted he's ready to move on from "Gangnam Style."

"Being in Times Square on New Year's Eve is already special - it's the biggest stage in the universe - plus it's my birthday, so, with all that, it may be the ending of 'Gangnam Style.' I mean, what better way to do it? It's my biggest and most meaningful birthday," Psy told MTV News.

Psy, who turned 35 on December 31, said he needs to write a new single because "Gangnam Style" became too popular.

But he quickly added that he will still perform "Gangnam Style," since he still gets a lot of invitations from  around the world.

"I'm really working hard on a new single right now, and I'm not saying (Gangnam) is ending on 'Dick Clark' - I still have a lot of invitations to perform it ... I'll be in Paris, and in February I got invited to perform in China, and I've still got to do promo," Psy said.

Psy is scheduled to hold a concert in Manila in February.

The music video for "Gangnam Style" went viral this year, and became most-viewed clip of all-time on YouTube video with more than 1 billion views.
