Kuh Ledesma wants foreign acts regulated
MANILA, Philippines - Filipino pop diva Kuh Ledesma is calling for the immediate regulation of concerts by major international idols such as Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars.
In an interview, Ledesma said lawmakers must study how to protect the interests of Filipino artists who are being challenged by concerts of international singing stars such as Swift, Mars and Justin Bieber. She said the foreign artists are now holding concerts during the traditional "concert seasons" in the Philippines such as Valentine's Day and Summer.
Ledesma is holding a major concert on February 12 and 13 at the PICC with the Hitmakers: Rico J. Puno, Marco Sison, Dr. Nonoy Zuñiga, and composer-singer Rey Valera. It will be the first time that Kuh performs with The Hitmakers.
The concert will be held a few days before the Taylor Swift concert at the Araneta Coliseum on February 19. Tickets for the Swift concert are sold out.
Advanced sales of Justin Bieber's concert at SM Mall of Asia on May 10 are also picking up.
A local promoter who declined to be named said foreign artists are flocking to the Philippines and other Asian nations due to insistent public demand. Report by Mario Dumaual, ABS-CBN News

Is Kuh a hypocrite?
If you want your kababayans to patronize their own, then don't you think that you should be rendering only your own (tagalog) songs as well?
Filipinos want to get their money's worth and that is why they want to hear the songs they love from the original performers, and not from performers who try to sing and sound like the original.
Would you take your date to a concert where a local artist will sing, or try to copy a Mariah Carey when for the same price you can take your date to see the original artist on that special heart's day? Hmmmm ....

Hindi yan ang issue na ipinaglalaban nina Kuh, et al. Magbasa ka muna ng mabuti at kung wala kang alam kundi mangutya at manginsulto ng mga local artists, huwag ka na lang mag comment. Ipinakikita mo lang ang isang aspeto kung bakit di makaangat ang mga Pilipino, dahil sa mga katulad mong hindi marunong sumuporta sa sariling atin at walang katuturan ang pinagsasabi. Nakakahiya ang mga comment ng mga taong katulad mo.

What if Pinoy artists be regulated also in foreign countries? Ano kaya ang mararamdaman nya? Ms. Ledesma please asked yourself first what is wrong with the Singing Industry in the Philippines? Please find some answers first and then help them to improve more, maraming magaling sa atin pero nasasapawan sila ng mga anak ng mga Veterans na kagaya mo na kahit walang boses ay pinipilit na kumakanta at yung magagaling eh nawawala. Sino ba si Arnel Pineda, sino ba si Charice, kailan ba tinangkilik ni Ms. Ledesma ang mga 'yan? Hope you will realize what will be the consequences if you will regulate them in the Philippines. Let the people decide kung sila masaya huwag ka sanang maging makasarili. Philippines is a free country.
