MANILA, Philippines – Sexy comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto on Sunday admitted that she had an affair with a man who was already in another relationship but stressed she already left that kind of situation.
In a live interview on “The Buzz,” host Boy Abunda asked the actress pointblank if she ever had a “bawal na pag-ibig” as has been insinuated by showbiz media.
“Oo. Pero lumabas naman. Di ba masama naman kung na-stuck up ka na?” she said, while giving out a hearty laugh.
Quinto, who’s now a freelance talent, told Abunda that she was embarrassed about the relationship.
“Kinahiya ko po noon while I’m there. Pero after a while, eh wala na, nangyari na. Siguro destiny ko ‘yon,” she said, adding that she took aways lessons from the “forbidden” relationship. “Huwag na maging sensitive masyado. Kumbaga huwag kang mahiya kung ‘yan ang buhay na nandiyan,” she said.
The actress explained it was okay for her that her partner couldn’t marry her since she wasn’t interested in getting hitched anyway.
“Kasi noon pa naman ayaw ko namang magpakasal so parang okay lang,” she said.
But Quinto stressed that she was aware that she was hurting people because of the relationship.
“I always do (think about them) kaya nga hindi matuloy-tuloy eh. Kaya lang kakaiwas ko sa tadhanang ibinibigay sa akin, parang ang nangyayari, napapasama pa ako. Kung sino-sino na naman ang manliligaw, iisahan ka na naman, bobolahin, mga freeloaders,” she said. “In short, I tried my best na uniwas… Lahat tayo gusto naman we will end up na magandang ka-ending-an, ‘yung legacy na maiwan mo, tapos hinangaan ka ng maraming tao, siyempre gusto mo maging good example.
But she said she will not apologize for her actions. “Bakit ako mag-so-sorry eh pasalamat nga sila… kung baga hindi naman ako nakasira ng pamilya,” she said.
“Ilang beses ko ng iniwasan, tinalikuran, pero parang doon ako dinadala. I’m still hoping siyempre na hindi ganoon lang ‘yung ending,” she added.
Quinto told Abunda that she is in love with herself right now. “May confidence na ako, nakaipon na ako kahit papaano,” she said, pointing out that she had to help out her siblings when they were growing up.
“Ngayon nagsilakihan na sila, mga graduate na rin at may work na, ngayon lang ako nakakapag-enjoy ng sarili ko talaga,” she said.
Meanwhile, Quinto said she is ready to go all-out again with her showbiz career. Currently, she is working on what she calls her “relaunching” movie: a comedy titled “Ang Babaeng Huling Henya,” which will be directed by Marlon Rivera, who also did the acclaimed movie “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank.”
“I’m excited to work. I’m excited to make you all laugh with me. ‘Yun ‘yung para sa akin -- more work, more fun,” she said of her plans for the new year.
