I have no ill-feelings toward Marian Rivera, says Boy
It was nothing personal.
Television host and talent manager Boy Abunda reiterated anew that he has nothing against Marian Rivera when he said that the controversial actress is not yet the “biggest star today.”
Abunda said his statement made on show business talk show “The Buzz” was blown out of proportion but “she knows in her heart that I have nothing personal against her.”
"Wala akong hinanakit kay Marian Rivera, wala. We haven't formally met. Hindi kami magkakilala kaya wala akong galit, wala akong hinanakit," he said.
"Medyo nadadagdagan lang ng maraming bagay kasi humahaba at lumalawak ang usapan pero wala kaming deprensiya,” he stressed.
Abunda also dismissed the alleged tiff between them as mere gossip.
The issue began on Dec. 21, 2008 when Kris Aquino, Abunda’s co-host on The Buzz, remarked that Rivera could be considered as the "biggest star today," a statement the talent manager immediately contradicted.
For her part, Rivera declined to comment on Abunda's statement. When asked though to give a message to Abunda, Rivera replied: “Ate Kris na lang. I love you, Ate Kris."
Rivera’s reaction further fueled speculations that the two were not in good terms.
During the December 28 episode of The Buzz, Abunda stood pat by what he said. He also cleared that he did not say anything derogatory against the actress.
“And Marian, I didn't call you names. I simply said, and I paid tribute to you, sinabi ko, ‘you're one of the biggest stars.’ I stand by my statement na I don't believe you are the biggest star," Abunda said.
Abunda explained that, in order to be considered "the biggest star," one should take into account the artist's "body of work" and "longevity."
Abunda added: "Marian if you love Kris Aquino, I love her more."
