In an interview during the press conference for the series on Tuesday, Gutierrez revealed that a week before he was offered to be part of "Ina Kapatid Anak," someone told his son that he was just an "aging actor with no project."
"Napaka-swerte ko naman, No. 1 pa. I'm also very glad to be working with Pilar (Pilapil) and Ronaldo (Valdez), ang gagaling nila. Sabi nga sa akin ni Gloria Romero, 'As long as you can memorize your line, Eddie, you are an actor,'" Gutierrez said.
According to reports, it was one of the actor's ex-girlfriends who belittled him.
The actor said he's grateful to the Kapamilya network for giving him the chance to be part of the show.
"Actually I started here (in ABS-CBN) in 1968 with 'Eddie Gutierrez Show' kaya ako ang pinakamatandang Kapamilya," he noted.
Book 2 of "Ina Kapatid Anak" starts this Monday, January 14, on Primetime Bida.
