Kris sees 3 to 5 more 'excellent' years in showbiz
MANILA, Philippines – Host-actress Kris Aquino, fresh from the huge success of her movie “Sisterakas,” sees three to five more “excellent” years ahead for her in the entertainment industry.
In an interview with “The Buzz” that aired on Sunday, Aquino refused to discuss her plans once her contract with the Kapamilya network expires at the end of the year.
“Matagal pa ‘yon kasi October pa naman pinaguusapan ‘yon. It’s 90 days before expiration, doon niyo pinaguusapan kung saan papunta,” she said when asked if she will renew her contract with ABS-CBN.
She said it was her mother, the late President Corazon Aquino, who advised her to quit while she’s still ahead.
“The one thing my mom said to me when I was signing that five-year contact with ABS – at wala pa siyang sakit noong time na yon – she said, ‘Krissy, I always pray that you will go when you are still on top.’ I’m trying my very best not to overstay,” the youngest daughter of the late president said.
“Sana, God-willing, I have three to five more excellent years left,” she said.
Aquino explained that she is also working to ensure a secure future for her sons.
“Sana din talaga, enough ‘yung na-set aside -- not for Bimby kasi alam ko naman na kaya niyang alagaan ang sarili niya in the future -- but really for Josh,” she said of her eldest son with actor Philip Salvador.
“So I just want to make sure na secure na secure 'yung future ni Josh, na hindi siya maging burden kay Bimb paglaki niya at wala na ako dito,” she added.
Meanwhile, Aquino said she is happy working on her latest series, “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw” with Robin Padilla and Anne Curtis, which will start airing this month.
“It was such a comfortable and happy working experience kasi gamay naming ang isa’t isa,” Aquino said.
Aquino reportedly gave her all while shooting the series, including the love scenes with former boyfriend Padilla.
“I think that’s the advantage of not being in a relationship. I think kasi kapag mayroon kang partner na inuuwian, marami kang fears na pagaawayan niyo ito,” she explained.
“Sa akin, my two sons lang ang naging problema, lalo na yung maliit, galit na galit, pero 9 o’clock naman ang airing nito, 8:30 normally tulog na siya, so request na lang na wala na lang sa mga teaser, so okay na,” she added, referring to her youngest son, James Yap Jr.
Aquino herself previously revealed that the young boy got upset when he saw a kissing scene between her mother and Padilla.
During the interview with “The Buzz,” Aquino also revealed that her youngest son is also starting to get jealous with Brazilian model-host Daniel Matsunaga, who continues to be linked with the “KrisTV” host.
Once again, Aquino said there is nothing going on between her and Matsunaga, despite the constant teasing of her “Sisterakas” co-star and good friend, Vice Ganda.
“Inaasar lang niya ako dahil alam niyang napipikon na ako,” Aquino said. “Kaya talagang sinasabi ko, ‘Stop it kasi nagagalit na si Bimb.’”
