International singing sensation Charice is set to perform at the historic inauguration of US president-elect Barack Obama in Washington on January 20, according to the young singer’s mother.  

Racquel Pempengco made this confirmation to the staff of ABS-CBN show “Wonder Mom” while they were taping an episode detailing Charice’s success and worldwide popularity.   

The said episode is set to be aired on January 17 on ABS-CBN.

Since last year, blogs and message forums have been flooded with discussions about Charice’s scheduled performance at Obama’s inauguration.

In mid-November of last year, abs-cbnNEWS.com also came out with a story about this Internet buzz but there was no confirmation from the singer’s camp.  

According to Charice’s mother, the singer is now busy preparing for her upcoming performance in an event that is expected to be watched by millions of viewers around the globe.  

Charice, named one of People Asia Magazine's People of the Year 2008, is scheduled to stay in the United States for almost three months to record her first international debut album.
