FHM cover girl joins newscast, reconsiders sexy image
I want to be a credible showbiz reporter, Gaitan says
MANILA, Philippines – "Banana Split" star Jef Gaitan said she is considering shedding her sexy image as she joins veteran newscaster Anthony Taberna in "News+," ABS-CBN Sports+Action's evening newscast.
Gaitan said she is unsure of doing another sexy cover after recently being featured on the glossy pages of men's magazine FHM.
Together with her "Banana Split" co-stars Sunshine Garcia and Aiko Climaco, she was featured on the cover of the popular magazine.
"'Yung pag-se-sexy, sinabi ko naman nung nag-cover ako sa FHM na 'yun na ang last even before pa ako pumasok dito [sa 'News+'] for this year," the commercial model-turned actress said during the launch of ABS-CBN Sports+Action on Thursday.
Gaitan will be reporting the lighter side of the news by providing the latest updates on showbiz in "News+."
The 24-year-old stunner has come a long way from being a contestant in a reality TV show to being a mainstay on "Banana Split."
Gaitan said she wants to follow the footsteps of other showbiz reporters who came before her, like Phoemela Baranda, Gretchen Fullido and Ginger Conejero.
“S’yempre I'll try really, really hard para maging credible ako as a showbiz reporter,” she said.
With regards to her sexy image, she said she still doesn’t know what the future holds for her. “So titignan natin kung anong mangyayari ngayong year na 'to, if I’ll still do sexy covers."
