MANILA, Philippines - Host-actress Ruffa Gutierrez is determined to stay "fabulously single" this year, based on alleged feng shui predictions that 2010 is a risky year for love.

"Actually gagawin ko talaga siya, no emotional investment this year," Gutierrez told ABS-CBN News in an interview.

She said she will "try not to jump into a romantic relationship" quickly, especially as she notes that she will be risking heartbreak if she falls in love, according to feng shui experts.

"I was born in the year of the Tiger. This is actually not my year to fall in love, I should fall in love in the year of the Rabbit and not this year (the year of the Metal Tiger)," she explained.

"But according to feng shui experts, if I fall in love this year or if I have a special someone this year, I will cry and my heart will be torn apart. And I don't want my heart to be torn apart," she said.

Playing safe

Gutierrez said her main focus this year is her career and her two daughters, Lorin and Venice, by her estranged husband, Turkish businessman Yilmaz Bektas.

"Seriously I have my two kids to think about and to take care of. So kailangan sila muna ang alagaan ko at pati ang sarili ko," Gutierrez said.

The actress said she will be more cautious when picking a partner, especially since she has to consider her daughters.

"Importante para sa akin especially now, I can't afford to commit any mistake. I already fell in love, nadapa na ako. At hindi na ako puwedeng madapa ulit. So for the sake of my kids, I have to be very smart. So I chose to be fabously single this 2010," she said.

Gutierrez converted to Islam when she married Bektas in 2003. The couple stayed in Istanbul before deciding to end their marriage 4 years later.

Gutierrez claimed Bektas physically abused her on several occasions, a claim the businessman denied.

Bektas, in turn, accused Gutierrez of marital infidelity after it was discovered Gutierrez was still legally married to a certain Richard Daloia at the time of their marriage.

The pair last saw each other in April 2008. The actress became a Born-Again Christian when she came back to the Philippines.

'Just friends'

Ruffa also made headlines last year when reports surfaced that she was having an affair with actor John Lloyd Cruz, who is 11 years her junior.

She was also rumored to be the reason behind the breakup of Cruz and his girlfriend, stylist Liz Uy. The actor denied this.

Lately, Cruz has been stealing the spotlight in lieu of reports that he has an alcohol problem. The actor has been reportedly spotted drunk on numerous occasions.

Cruz is rumored to be dating Shaina Magdayao, who has allegedly become his drinking buddy.

Ruffa decined to speak about the issues, saying it is up to Cruz's management to answer the allegations.

"Kahit kaibigan ko si JL mahirap mag-comment tungkol diyan kasi nandiyan ang pamilya niya, ang management team niya. Marami ang pwedeng tumulong sa kanya, so I don't want to give unsolicited advice if ever I will give him advice ite-text ko na lang sa kanya," Ruffa said.

Ruffa stressed that she's always be there for Cruz as a good friend.

"With John Lloyd naman he will always be my friend. Alam naman niyang nandito lang ako if ever he wants to reach out," she said.

"Kung kailangan niya ng advice, kung kailangan niya ng isang kaibigang makakausap, hindi naman ako mawawala. 'Yon naman ang status namin last year, hanggang ngayon hindi mawawala yon," she added.
