MANILA, Philippines - The newest boy band in the country, "3 A.M.", recently released their self-titled debut album under Star Records.

The band who first appeared on ABS-CBN's "Music Uplate" is composed of best friends Mica Caldito, James Torres and Kyle Amor.

In an interview during a press conference for their album, the group said they are thankful to be given a chance to record their first mainstream CD.

"Happy, thankful! Actually because of that, nabigyan na din kami ng ibang opportunities. Like sa showbiz, nakapasok na din kami dahil doon," Caldito said.

"Strong foundation ito para sa amin at saka hilig namin ito since bata pa kami," Torres added.

The group said their album features four original compositions such as "Come Around", " Mapapasin Mo Ba?", "When I Gave It Up Too Soon", and "Hindi Mo Lang Alam" which is also the album's carrier single.

The album also features 3 A.M.'s rendition of Justin Bieber's hit "Baby."

"Limang kanta siya. Apat sa mga kanta, ako ang sumulat. Tapos 'Baby' na cover ni Justin Bieber," Caldito said.

Regulation of foreign acts

During the interview, the group members also expressed their opinions on the hottest issue in the music industry, the regulation of foreign acts.

They said foreign acts should not be regulated but welcomed.

"Ako, sa music, open ako. Ayaw ko namang i-box. OPM kami kasi. Pinoy pero ang view ko sa music, I'm open sa lahat. I invite all kinds of music," Caldito said.

Torres said it's good that international artists perform for their Filipino fans because they learn a lot from them.

"Sila kasi medyo mas advanced pagdating sa musicality. For us, natututo kami sa mga international artists sa paggawa ng album namin. So we are thankful na pumupunta sila sa atin. So ayaw ko siyang i-box out," Torres added.

"I don't believe in boxing it, kasi they are influences and they inspire us so why wouldn't we let them play here?" Amor quipped.

The band admitted that their influence when it comes to music is the hit American rock band Paramore.

3 A.M. became part of ABS-CBN's defunct series "IDOL" with Sarah Geronimo. The group is also set to be part of a film titled "Basted" with Maja Salvador as the lead star.

The "3 A.M." album is now available in record bars nationwide.
