Maricel asks director: 'Bibitiwan mo na rin ba ako?'
Vice Ganda to team up with 'Diamond Star'
MANILA, Philippines -- The director of Maricel Soriano's upcoming comedy film assured the veteran actress that the project will push through, following a recent controversy involving the "Diamond Star" and actor Gerald Anderson.
Wenn Deramas, the director of Soriano's upcoming movie with comedian-host Vice Ganda, said he recently had dinner with the 47-year-old actress to discuss the Star Cinema and Viva Films co-production.
The director behind the blockbuster films "Sisterakas" and "The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin" said he felt Soriano's spirits had been dampened after her role in an upcoming series was re-cast.
"Kasi ako, base ito sa napag-usapan namin kagabi, she even asked me kung, 'Bibitawan mo na rin ba ako?' Sabi ko, 'Of course not,'" Deramas was quoted as saying by entertainment news site Philippine Entertainment Portral.
Early this week, reports on Soriano's alleged outburst on the set of the upcoming drama series "Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin" circulated online. The actress allegedly lost her temper over Anderson's numerous takes in filming a scene.
Soriano's manager and ABS-CBN -- which is producing the TV series -- have since decided to exclude the Diamond Star from the cast.
When asked for his comment on the alleged tiff, Deramas said, "Ako kasi, si Maricel, kaibigan ko siya matagal na. Alam ko ang working habit, alam ko kung paano siya magmahal sa kanyang craft, sa kanyang trabaho."
"Perhaps, hindi lang nagtugma kay Gerald. Dahil si Gerald siguro may pamamaraan din kung paano ginagawa ang eksena, hindi nagma-match kay Maricel," he said.
The director also said he sees the reported outburst as an "isolated case." "Huwag nating sabihin na yung tao ay ganito at ganyan dahil lamang sa isang insidente," he added.
According to Deramas, Soriano will also co-star with Gabby Concepcion, in addition to Vice Ganda, in the comedy film titled "Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy". Filming for the project will start next month.
