Rude followers force Angelica Panganiban to close Twitter page
MANILA, Philippines – Angelica Panganiban has put up a Twitter account to be closer to her fans and supporters, but she instead became a target of invectives and demeaning comments from some of her “rude” followers.
Panganiban was so hurt by the comments, some of which were “below the belt,” that she decided to just delete her page.
"Nakakatuwa ang Twitter kasi ang mga artista sila na ang lumalapit sa mga tao para makausap nila. Kumbaga nandiyan ka na, communication na yan, direkta na yan sa iyo. Pero ang mga tao babastusin ka pa. Kulang na lang murahin ka. Kung wala kang magandang sasabihin, huwag mo na lang sabihin," the actress said.
According to Panganiban, some would criticize her for not being sexy as they expected her to be, while others accused her of using her "rich" boyfriend, actor Derek Ramsay.
But she cried foul especially when a follower insulted her for not finishing her education.
"Hindi ako nakatapos ng pag-aaral, ano daw ba ang degree na pinanghahawakan ko? Sabi, ‘Wala, di ba? So, pwes panghawakan mo na ang rich mong boyfriend,'" she said.
The 23-year-old beauty, who started acting at age 6, reminded her critics that even before she met Ramsay she is already earning for her and her family.
Panganiban, dubbed as television’s “Primetime Gem,” countered: “Tinatanong ako kung may pinag-aralan ako pero kung magsalita ang tao ang sarap tanungin kung siya ba may pinag-aralan?... Nakakasama lang talaga ng loob na minsan may mga tao talagang walang breeding.”
The actress has more than 35,000 followers when she deleted her old Twitter page.
The good news though is that Panganiban created a new Twitter account. And this time she is taking precautions.
“Ngayon gumawa na ako ng bagong account pero naka-private na siya. May Q&A portion kami bago ko siya tanggapin bilang follower ko," she said.
Her user ID is "BaklangRubi," a name taken from her newest pirimetime series called “Rubi.”
In her newest ABS-CBN TV show, Panganiban gives life to the strong-willed Rubi, a social climber who is driven by dark ambitions.

Some people are like that, we can't please everybody. No matter how hard we try. Being successful doesnt evolve only in Education, kung ano may doctorate or PHD ba. They are many categories for being genius, some good in Math, Science, Literature, composer, songwriter, preacher, athletes and many many more. Even Pacquaio are one of those. Yes, some people have PHD's but they are not richer than a third grader businessman. Yes, i believe that education is the foundation of all success, but doesnt promise you to be rich at all.

I really admire Ms. Pangilinan as an actor. Although, the only Pangilinan movie I watched was the one with Maricel Soriano and Aga M. Her performance was not bad at all. I grew more to liking her in the print ads and commercials that she made. I find her pretty and a lot of people would certainly agree. I respect her decision on closing her twitter account. Twitting is more adaptable to talk-show format. I suggest that she maintains a website where her fans can submit there comments, insights, position whether its positive or negative. You can choose to ignore those negative issues or come out with offcial statements on certain issues and thoughts. Updating the website on a weekly basis would prove to be a much easier task and getting down to her fans.
