Deadline for Cinema One Originals entries extended
MANILA, Philippines - Filmmakers interested to take part in the 7th Cinema One Originals Digital Film Festival this year have until February 4 to submit their entries.
There is no theme for this year's film festival, according to Cinema One in a statement sent to abs-cbnNEWS.com.
It also disclosed that 10 screenplays will be chosen instead of the usual 7 finalists to receive a grant of P1 million for the production of the film.
Cinema One Originals started in 2005 and quickly became the melting pot of new talents--scriptwriters, actors, and directors--whose ideas and stories are different.
This has resulted in the production of movies that are not formulaic and mainstream, films which big production companies are reluctant to produce.
Past winners in the film festival include filmmakers Jerold Tarrog, Sherad Anthony Sanchez, Remton Zuasola, Jason Laxamana and Richard Somes.
Among the movies previously shown in the film festival are "Confessional", "Imburnal", "Ang Damgo ni Eleuteria", "Dose", "Rome & Juliet", "Huling Balyan ng Buhi" and "Yanggaw". These films have won awards locally and abroad.
Interested parties should submit a full story or completed screenplay, sequence treatment of the project, signed entry form, and entrant's updated curriculum vitae to the Cinema One Programming office at the 8/F Eugenio Lopez, Jr. Communications Center, Mother Ignacia Avenue, Quezon City.
