MANILA -- "It's Showtime" mainstay Jhong Hilario apologized to the noontime program's audience for walking out during its live telecast on Tuesday, saying he could not contain his emotions amid the ordeal of his co-host and long-time friend, Vhong Navarro.

"Darating talaga sa point na minsan sasabog ka na lang bigla, e. Minsan hindi mo mapipigilan 'yung nararamdaman mo," Hilario told ABS-CBN News' Marie Lozano shortly after the show.

"Humihingi ako ng paumanhin sa madlang people. 'Yung naramdaman ko is bilang nararamdaman ng isang kaibigan, parang kapatid na," he said.

Navarro, who has been friend with Hilario for over two decades, is currently embroiled in a legal battle with a group that includes businessman Cedric Lee and model Deniece Cornejo, who he has accused of conspiring to attack him inside a condominium unit at the Bonifacio Global City, Taguig last week.

According to Navarro, he was tied up, blindfolded, and beaten up by six men, leaving him with serious injuries, including a broken nose that required reconstructive surgery.

"As a friend -- 21 years na kami magkasama, kalahati na ng buhay ko, magkasama kami -- natural lang siguro 'yung gano'ng emotion dahil doon sa pinagdadaanan ng kaibigan ko," Hilario said.

"I want to be strong for him," he added.

Asked how he has shown support for Navarro amid the controversy, Hilario said, "Dasal na lang talaga para sa speedy recovery niya and justice."

"Nakita ko naman kung gaano karaming tao ang sumusuporta at naniniwala sa kanya... Isa lang masasabi ko -- God is great. Lalabas kung ano 'yung totoo."

Navarro on Tuesday filed cases against Lee's group for serious physical injuries, grave threat, grave coercion, illegal arrest, blackmail and serious illegal detention, which is a non-bailable offense.

Earlier on Tuesday, Lee accused Navarro of "twisting the facts," saying the host's account of the incident is an exaggeration.

Cornejo, meanwhile, maintained that Navarro attempted to rape her and that she will file the appropriate charges against him.
