There’s life after ‘Umagang Kay Ganda,’ says Ogie Diaz
Best known for bringing juicy show business news in all forms of media, veteran entertainment writer/reporter Ogie Diaz made it to the headlines last October 2008 when he was removed from ABS-CBN morning show “Umagang Kay Ganda.”
The exact reasons for his dismissal were never disclosed to the public save for the fact that he allegedly violated several prohibitions in the Code of Ethics of ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs.
Rumors had it that it was Sharon Cuneta who had him dismissed from the show after he reportedly aired a news about her and husband Sen. Francis Pangilinan’s supposed separation.
Three months after he was dismissed, Diaz was still mum on the issue but he stressed that he has already moved on.
“Oo [maganda ang umaga ko] dahil nakakatulog na ako ng mahaba,” he said in a press conference for upcoming television series “May Bukas Pa.”
Aside from hosting DZMM’s Talakan and writing for several publications, Diaz is also busy with her television projects. In May Bukas Pa, Diaz plays the role of Ato.
“Natural ang pag-arte ko dito. Very true to life nga ito kasi kami ni Arlene Muhlach pareho kaming may asawa at may tatlong anak.
He shared that his character will still reflect his nature as a showbiz reporter for added entertainment value to the viewers.
“At saka yung pagiging tsismosa ko, dahil reporter din naman ako in real life, hanggang dito sa teleserye bitbit ko ‘yon,” he said.
He assured his co-stars, however, that he would never take advantage of his position to gather newsworthy incidents during their taping days.
