MANILA -- Leaders of the local showbiz industry expressed their support for actor-host Vhong Navarro, who is currently recovering after he was beaten up at a condomonium in Taguig last January 22.
In a statement read on "Buzz ng Bayan" on Sunday, the country's entertainment industry called the mauling incident involving Navarro, businessman Cedric Lee and model Deniece Cornejo "horrible" and said no one has the right to "torture" anyone.
"On January 24, 2014, the entire Philippine entertainment industry was shocked to learn of the horrible incident involving TV host-actor Vhong Navarro. No one has any right to inflict torture on anyone regardless of his economic or social standing society. Let the law prevail. Let the court decide," the statement read.
The showbiz industry also denounced the attack on Navarro and expressed full support in the plea for justice of the "It's Showtime" host.
"In view of this, the undersigned leaders and officers representing the various sector of the Philippine entertainment industry unilaterally regret and denounce the brutal attack against our colleague, Mr. Navarro, we likewise express full support in his plea for justice," it added.
