Bea doesn't mind being paired with older actors
MANILA – Although she's only 26, Bea Alonzo does not mind being paired with actors who are much older than her.
For instance, in the box office hit "The Mistress," she played the other woman of veteran actor Ronaldo Valdez, who was 64 when the movie was shown in 2012.
Now in her upcoming drama series “Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon,” Alonzo's love interests will be played by Paulo Avelino and Albert Martinez, who is already 52.
Alonzo said she doesn't mind the age gap.
“Hindi. Dalawa kasi sila eh. Meron akong Paulo Avelino. Maganda siya for me kasi after working with Tito Ronaldo (Valdez), I worked with Enrique Gil. Now I’m gonna work with Paulo and Albert. Feeling ko nagiging edge ko yun,” she said in an interview with ABS-CBN News last Friday.
In her last movie, "She's the One," Alonzo had two leading men: Dingdong Dantes and young actor Gil.
Alonzo said she finds it advantageous that she gets to work -- and learn -- from actors of varying ages.
“Feeling ko maganda 'yun para sa akin kasi hindi namimili, kahit sino pwede ko makatrabaho,” she said.
Meanwhile, Alonzo said she cannot wait to share a scene with veteran actress Susan Roces, who is also part of the series along with other seasoned performers Anita Linda, Dina Bonnevie and Tonton Gutierrez.
“Sobrang powerhouse cast talaga. That’s why I’m kind of pressured to deliver also pero at the same time I’m very challenged. Sabi ko nga just for that kind of challenge, siguro blessing na 'yun alone, 'yung to be working with these kinds of actors. To be in one frame with Ms. Susan Roces, that would mean a lot of to me,” she said.
Although its release date has yet to be announced, Alonzo said she is already gearing up for the show with a series of look tests.
“Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon” also marks her return to TV after more than a year. Her last primetime series was "A Beautiful Affair" with long-time screen partner John Lloyd Cruz back in 2012.
Alonzo considers the upcoming series her most challenging project yet since she will be playing not just one character.
“I’m very, very excited na maipalabas ito sa primetime bida. Akala ko ‘Betty La Fea’ na ang pinakanakakapagod. Parang ito din pala physically and emotionally nakakapagod,” she said.
