Itinanggi ni Boy Abunda ang isyu na may alam na siya na matsutsugi na ang morning show nila ni Kris Aquinona Boy & Kris bago pa man dumating ang offer na gawin ang Showbiz News Ngayon (SNN) sa primetime ng ABS-CBN.

"No, no,” bungad ni Kuya Boy.“The move to do this show and for usand to moved out of ‘Boy and Kris’ amin ‘yun ha. Kasi there is a perception na, hindi kami ang nagsabi nawith this primetime showwe’d like to be able to, we’dbe moving out of Boy & Kris.”

For Boy panahon na daw kasi para sa kanila na mag-move on ni Kris. “You move on. Kris did it alone. I did it alone.We’ve done it together. It’s a show that we know, a landscape that we’re familiar with. You go somewhere. We’re bringing our partnership somewhere.”

Never ba nilang inisip na maghiwalay ni Kris since naisip naman nila na mag-move on?

“But that’s a show kasi na kailangan together kami. And in fairness to her she initiated that. That was her concept. It’s really her concept. But it‘s about time also that you take control of your career. ‘Di ba kadalasan kasi kayo ang sinasabihan that ‘Uy, eto na ang susunod ninyong palabas.’ Eto naman we’re blessed because Krisand I are in theposition to actually manage our career. You know, that after doing the morning show we needed to do something new.”

Honestly, ano ang naramdaman niya nu’ng kumalat ang tsismis na matsutsugi na ang Boy & Kris dahil mababa ang ratings na nakukuha?

“Dalawang level. Uh, Kris and I have done the morning show ng magkahiwalay. Tapos nagsanib kami ‘di ba? Ratings-wise we don’t have to be defensive alright? When I was doing Homeboy, I used to fight for a 10:40 (am), sabayan lang. Sabayan lang para patas. We have other problems around the ratings thing ano, Metro Manila andSuburb halimabawa. Then past few weeks we would go on air at 10:15 up against cartoons, okay. The other show would come, would go on air ng 10:40, okay?

"So, ayokong magpaka-technical. Pero sa umaga kasi pag ratings ang pinag-uusapan kasi malaking bagay ‘yung 25 to 30 minutes na difference na ‘yun. So, ‘yun. Pangalawa, tatlo ang points ko. We have nothing to prove in terms of numbers. Sabi nga ni Kris ngayon, ang sinasabi sa amin national ratings. Pangatlo, we are lucky that the company that we work for and even people, advertisers lalo na sa kanya.

"Advertisers look at Kris, look at us beyond ratings. Halimbawa kung pag-uusapan natin Metro Manila at saka suburbs, okay. But national ratings that’s not true. Pero sabi nga ni Kris, Who wouldn’t want to win? Sino ang may ayaw noon.”

Gusto rin i-klaro ni Boy na sila rin ni Kris ang nag-initiate ng move nila to primetime.

“Alam namin ‘yon. No, ‘tsaka gusto ko lang i-klaro that the move from the morning show was initiated by us. Hindi kami pinaalis sa Boy & Kris. If Kris didn’t think of the concept hindi tayo nag-uusap ngayon. We are still doing the morning show. Nobody was saying na, ‘Hey, we’re not happy with you in the morning show anymore. You have to do another thing.’ And if they were not happy with the morning show why would we do a primetime show?”

Kwento ni Kris, dumating din siya sa point na natakot siya sa kahihintanan ng kanyang career.Na never inisip ng publiko na mararamdaman ‘yun ni Kris dahil sa pagkakaalam ng marami with all the influence she has hindi siya mawawalan ng show sa ABS-CBN.

“You know what she’s saying is even she’s Kris Aquino dumadating ‘yung point, I mean, you challenge your own mortality in the business. Ako naman ang gusto ko lang sabihin talaga, ay maganda ‘yung tanong mo, e. Sa estado halimbawa ni Kris and she feels that’s way. No, but it’s also the power tobe able to reinvent, ito ‘yung much-abused word of reinvention. Where do you go? Ikaw ang pinakamalaking stakeholder sa karera mo, e, ‘di ba?

"Kasi itong gagawin namin we don’t know what’s going to happen. It’s exciting, it’s risky but it’s exciting. Eh, ‘di ba kasi sanay tayo na makapanood sa mga karera na pinagsawaan ka na doon at ikaw na ang pinapaalis. And thank God nga, sabi nga namin ni Kris we arein an organization where we are allowed, our voices are heard, where we can say ‘Can we try something like this?’”

May mga pagkakataon din ba na umiyak si Boy tulad ni Kris?

“No naman. Hindi ako natakot. Ang kontrata ko expires December 31.So, just to let you know na ito ‘yung panahon na concepts are presented to you, ah, ‘di ba? Pinag-uusapan kung saan papunta.At you have a choice actually, to stay where you are. Thank you to Kris na nakaisip ng ganitong concept for SNN.”

Samantala iba naman daw ang concept ng Ruffa & Ai sa Boy & Kris.

“Totally different. But it will be handled also by same unit, si Louie (Andrada, Business Unit Head of Talk). Si Pooh kasama d’yan.”

Nagbigay ba sila ng suggestion kung sino ang papalit sa kanila bilang host ng show?

“No,sabi nga ni Kris she brought out some names. Ako rin nag-suggest ako.”

Sinang-ayunan naman ni Kuya Boyang sinabi ni Kris na hindi naman siya ang kaaway ni AiAi Delas Alas kundi ang mister niya na siJames Yap.

“Walang away, you know. It’s very uncomfortable because wala silang away ni Kris. May discomfort lang dahil nga malalapit na tao ang involved. Si Kris at si AiAi, lalo na si Kris is very open. There are times for example when they are required to appear in a show, it’s not an issue to Kris, it’s not an issue to AiAi. Walang away ito, ha. Iklaro natin na it’s a guy thing.”

Anyway, just in case kaya na papiliin si Boy ng ibang kasama na female host sa show sino ang isa-suggest niya?

“Wala ako’ng maisip. Pero no, no, no. It’s not to flatter the artist. It’s very difficult.”

Pero si Kris diretsahang sinabi na kung may choice siya she would choose Piolo Pascual. Ano ang masasabi niya rito?

“Kung si Piolo at si Kris, makikisali ako,” natatawang tapos ni Boy.
