Alfred Vargas willing to quit politics for family
MANILA - Quezon City Rep. Alfred Vargas has denied rumors that he will join the senatorial race in 2016, saying he plans to quit politics to focus on his family.
Speaking with Anthony Taberna on "Tapatan Ni Tunying," the actor-politician admitted he no longer feels the need to aim for a higher position, as he plans to stay as a congressman for the remainder of his political career.
"I think I will truly achieve something when I finish three terms as congressman," Vargas said.
The former Kapamilya actor also expressed his willingness to quit politics in order to spend more time with his two daughters.
"During the campaign, I was too busy. I almost did not see my family," he said. "For me, a person’s biggest achievement is to become a good father and a good husband."
The episode of "Tapatan Ni Tunying," which will air on Thursday, will also feature an interview with Leyte Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez.
