Action star makes move to reconcile

MANILA, Philippines -- Robin Padilla admitted Thursday that his wife Mariel Rodriguez removed her wedding ring out of jealousy.

The 43-year-old action star made a surprise appearance on a noontime show that Rodriguez co-hosts to publicly assure the actress-host of his affections.

Padilla then proceeded to kneel before Rodriguez, who he married in 2010, to put back her wedding ring. He said, "Babe, wala akong ginagawang masama.

The domestic squabble comes after the airing of an episode of the drama series "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw" on Tuesday night. In it, Bogs (Padilla) and Roxanne (Kris Aquino) are seen exchanging vows, before going on a honeymoon trip to Boracay.

On Thursday, Padilla thanked Aquino for convincing Rodriguez to reconsider her supposed plan to leave her husband.

At maraming salamat, umuwi ho 'yung asawa ko," he said.

Admittedly, Rodriguez said, also on the noontime program, that she is "not comfortable with love scenes."

Responding to an appeased Rodriguez, the actor added, "Basta ako, tandaan mo, 'yung pag-ibig ko, sana diyan lang 'yan sa kamay mo 'yan. Iniibig kita. Tandaan mo ‘yan."

'Let's rumble'

Padilla also addressed the detractors of his wife on social networking sites, who, he said, have belittled Rodriguez's feelings in relation to the action star's recent scenes in "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw."

In his account on the image-sharing service Instagram, Padilla challenged his wife's critics to a fist fight.

"Tara dito wag natin daanin dito sa social media kasi walang mangyayari sa salita... Mag aantay ako dito, Game lets rumble mahal ko ang asawa ko kaya tumahimik ang duwag," he said.
