“The biggest blessing God gave me was He gave me a wonderful mom.”

During “The Buzz’s” advanced birthday surprise for its co-host, teary-eyed Kris Aquino said she was very grateful that her mom, former president Corazon Aquino, is still around when she celebrates her birthday on February 14.

The elder Aquino is battling colon cancer.

“I never thought na magbi-birthday ako na my mom would still be here… kung ano man ako talaga, in my totality as a person, as an entertainer, as a host, it is really because I have a good mom. A mom who always made me feel loved,” she said, adding:  

“Sana ma-extend pa ang life ng mom ko.”

The former president granted a one-on-one interview to the “The Buzz” for the first time since her condition was made public last year.

In the interview, the elder Aquino divulged what kind of daughter Kris is when the latter was still young and until after she was diagnosed with cancer.

She also reminded Kris to always share her many blessings to other people.  

“You owe a lot to God, to your family, to your friends and to all those people who have helped you. So, never forget that and always think what it is that you can contribute to other people. You cannot just accept your blessings or take them for granted… you should share your blessings,” said the former president.

Strong family

Kris also thanked her mom as she attributed her now peaceful and devoid-of-intrigues marriage to basketball player James Yap to the former leader.  She was also grateful that her mom had “brought me up well.”

“I would say na my marriage is in a good place right now kasi ‘yong family ko hindi sumuko to try to support the two of us, to make it work,” she said.  

“When James came to my life I was ready… siguro lahat napagdaanan ko na kaya alam ko na ang dapat gawin at hindi gawin,” she said.

“As far as taking care of my mom, parang ang feeling ko it feels so good to have what we have kasi na-spoil natin ang mom natin,” she added.
