Iya Villania wants to marry Drew Arellano
MANILA, Philippines -- Iya Villania is confident that her 9-year relationship with Drew Arellano will eventually lead to marriage.
In an interview on late-night newscast "Bandila" aired Friday, the Kapamilya singer-host belied rumors that she and Arellano have already secretly married.
"No, I'm not wearing a ring. Doon niyo talaga mako-confirm. But of course, getting married, doon kami papunta. Nine years na kami. I think it would be wrong kung hindi pa [namin napaguusapan]," she said.
Villania's outright denial comes after weeks of speculation on the real status of her relationship with the TV host.
"I've been one of the lucky few who don't really have many intrigues... But when there are intrigues, I've learned to just -- I know what the truth is, and I know I can't defend myself all the time," she said.
The "ASAP" mainstay nonetheless opened up about her relationship with Arellano, saying, in jest, that "he's crazy about me."
Asked on whether she and the former commercial model are expressive in saying their feelings, Villania said, "Oh, all the time. Of course we also fight. Actually, right now we're not 100%, may kaunting tampuhan lang, pero it's normal."
After 9 years of being a couple, Villania and Arellano have learned how to effectively handle their occasional squabbles.
"We respect each other's immersions and we know not to speak when we're too emotional pa, because sometimes words come out that you don't really mean," she said.
