Chiz wants to marry Heart in 5 years
MANILA, Philippines – Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero is hoping to marry his current girlfriend Heart Evangelista in the near future.
In an interview on "Showbiz Inside Report" aired Saturday, the 43-year-old lawmaker openly expressed his hopes of settling down with the 27-year-old actress.
Asked whether he sees his current relationship headed towards marriage, Escudero said, "Hopefully, yes, and it would be unfair, stupid and wrong to say that you don't wish, you don't want it to head in that direction."
The "Kris TV" co-host, whose 7-year marriage with his former wife was annulled last year, was also asked on his preferred "timetable" for re-marrying. "In 10 years, 53 na ako. Huwag naman," he said, laughing. "In less than five years."
Already with two kids, Escudero sees having a wife and a mother figure to his children as vital in having a "complete" family.
"I'm not jaded [about getting married]. I do want to get married again at some point. Sino ba naman ang ayaw ng kumpletong pamilya, na 'yung mga anak ko, meron silang tinitingnang pangalawang nanay man lang?" he said.
Referring to his ex-wife, Escudero added, "Pero hindi mo 'yun kaya palitan, at 'di ko babaguhin 'yon. Nanay nila, nanay nila."
Over the months since the senator and Evangelista publicly acknowledged their relationship in October, the couple has made several "discoveries" about each other's "world."
A former Kapamilya star, Evangelista became popular for her role as Missy in the teen-oriented series "G-mik" in 2000. She has since appeared in some 10 films and in dozens of TV shows.
Due to her stature as a local celebrity, Escudero has been accused of "using" the actress to further his popularity as a politician.
"Ayoko may masabi kahit sino na ginagamit ko siya, o ginagamit ako. To be fair sa kanya at sa 'kin, si Heart na siya bago ko siya makilala -- sikat, artista, may mga awards.
"Ako rin naman, kung sino ako, bago ko siya makilala, so we will leave it at that," he said.
