MANILA, Philippines - Voting is officially on!

The Myx Music Awards (MMA) finally announced this year’s nominees in over 19 categories, including favorite artist, favorite group and favorite music video.

The MMA 2010 nomination night also featured rocking performances by some of the country’s top music artists. The event was hosted by homegrown Myx VJs Robi, Bianca, Chino, Janine and Nel.

Last year’s MMA favorite group award, 6cyclemind, opened the night with its hit song “Kasalanan” followed by the up-and-coming rock band and favorite new artist nominee Letter Day Story. Both bands featured popular rapper Gloc-9, who is nominated in 6 categories.

Hale also brought the house down with its hit song “Bahay Kubo,” which is nominated in the favorite music video category. Hale lead vocalist Champ hopes to win an award this year. If Hale gets lucky, this will be its first MMA victory.

Champ also proudly talked about his band's experience while shooting Hale’s music video with actress Heart Evangelista, who is a nominee in the favorite guest appearance in a music video category.

Former Myx Celebrity VJ Sponge Cola was welcomed by thunderous shouts and applause as it performed its catchy song “Di na Mababawi.”

Lead vocalist Yael shared: “We’re so lucky that we were able to work with Mr. Gary V. in the song ‘Ayt.’”

R&B Princess Kyla, one of last year’s performers at the MMA night, treated the audience with her inspiring love song.

“I feel great and happy to be nominated. It’s hard enough for your songs to be played on-air, but to be nominated, it’s such a privilege,” she said.

Chicosci ended the event on a rocking mode with the song “Diamond Shotgun.” The band is also nominated in 6 categories including favorite rock video and favorite song.

Solo artist Rico Blanco is also tied with Gloc-9 and Chicosci, with 6 nominations each. Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo is tied with Kyla, both with 5 nominations.
