MANILA, Philippines - Actress Jessy Mendiola denied that she went out on a date with actor Jake Cuenca.

In an interview with "The Buzz" aired on Sunday, Mendiola said she and Cuenca just so happened to be in the same event last week when they were spotted together.

"After kasi 'yun ng isang event tapos nagutom kami so sabi ko dinner muna. Same kasi kami ng handler at road manager," she explained.

This was also echoed by Cuenca, stressing that there is nothing romantic going on between them.

"Nagkataon na we have the same show so nag-dinner na lang after. Magkaibigan lang kami," he said.

Last week, actor Matteo Guidicelli admitted that he and Mendiola are already more than friends.

"Kami ni Jessy, sobrang close kaming dalawa. If there’s friendship, we are a little above that,” he said.

Asked if he already loves his “Paraiso” leading lady, the actor said: “Let’s just say I’m getting there. We’ll never know. Like I told Jessy, we’ll just take it slow. We’ll see.”

Cuenca, on the other hand, recently revealed that he stopped courting actress Lovi Poe so he can concentrate on his career.
