Ruffa's dad all praises for 'respectful' Coco
MANILA – Ruffa Gutierrez is looking forward to working with Coco Martin following all the good things she has heard about the actor from her own father, veteran actor Eddie Gutierrez.
The former beauty queen will join Martin and Sarah Geronimo in an upcoming Star Cinema movie, while Eddie Gutierrez and Martin were former co-stars in the top-rating Kapamilya series “Walang Hanggan.”
Speaking to ABS-CBN News last week, Gutierrez said she became curious about Martin because her father kept on praising him for being polite and down to earth.
“Excited na excited ako. First time ko silang makakasama. Actually first time ko makita si Coco sa buong buhay ko. Ayan pala siya. Cute nga siya. Mabait naman and magalang,” she said.
Gutierrez recalled how her father was all praises about Martin after coming home from a taping of "Walang Hanggan."
“Pag-uwi ng daddy ko sa taping sabi niya, ‘Ay alam mo, na-meet ko si Coco, napakabait na bata.’ Yung ibang mga artista daw na mga baguhan, nakakalimutan na i-respect 'yung mga datihan ng mga artista or mga veteran stars natin. Si Coco daw talagang umiikot sa set ‘Kamusta na po kayo? Kumain na po ba kayo?’ Sinabi ng daddy ko magalang daw siya,” she said.
Gutierrez said she really appreciates celebrities who do not allow their fame to get to their heads.
“Alam kong mahusay siyang artista, alam kong professional siya, so kumbaga, right away alam ko na agad yun about him. Kasi ‘di ba best actor ka? I’m expecting that this is going to be a really good film. It’s a light drama and directed by Jerry Sineneng. Alam ko basta Star Cinema, mahusay na pelikula so I’m very honored,” she said.
Apart from Martin, Gutierrez said she is also excited to work with Geronimo, noting that she has been a long-time fan of the singer.
“Love na love ko si Sarah and I really appreciate her talent kasi isa siya sa mahuhusay nating mga artista ngayon and performers. To be able to work with her, excited ako. Dati pinapanood ko lang siya and nakakausap. Ngayon makakasama ko na siya sa trabaho so excited ako,” Gutierrez said.
The title and other cast members of the upcoming movie have yet to be announced but it is expected to be released in 2014, as part of the continuing celebration of Star Cinema's 20th anniversary.
