Gab not courting Coleen; admits break up with Oli
MANILA, Philippines - Host-dancer Gab Valenciano denied that he is now courting young actress Coleen Garcia, who's also a co-host in the noontime show "It's Showtime."
In an interview for his newest show "Sarah G Live!" with Sarah Geronimo, Valenciano admitted that he's getting closer to Garcia but they are not yet a couple. He added that he is not even ready to court the young host.
"I want to clarify this for Coleen's sake more than me. Coleen and I are good friends and we are definitely getting to know each other. I'm sure you are gonna ask me 'if there's a chance' or 'nanliligaw ka ba.' (Pero) I'm not ready to give that much that I did. I'm not ready invest that much emotion right now," said Valenciano, who just broke up with actress Isabel Oli.
Right now, Valenciano said he's happy with the friendship he has with Garcia, who's always there for him.
He also admitted that he will be going out on Valentine's night with Garcia.
"I just get her a puzzle cause she loves Disney puzzle, very simple," he said.
'I broke Isabel's heart'
In the interview, Valenciano admitted that he was the one who broke up with Isabel Oli.
"When you see anything, a business, a show heading to a place where it spells failure, what do you do? Do you continue and wait to final moment until it's too late or do you make a wise decision and say it's enough," he said.
"I just really have to be a man and say it's not working," he added.
Asked if the separation stemmed from reports linking Oli to star cager James Yap, the former husband of Kris Aquino, Valenciano promptly replied: "I don't think so, no, no. Isabel and I were happy."
"That issue has been going on even before we got together. Honestly I don't know what's going on with her. We are not in contact right now so I have no say I don't know what happened," Valenciano added.
In the interview, he admitted that saying goodbye to Oli's family was the hardest thing he had to face given the fact that Oli's father is now in critical condition.
"For me that was the hardest part. Isabel is a strong girl, she's been there, she has done that, she experienced the worst before and she can handle herself, but when I look at her family and look at what they are going through that is what broke my heart because I was there, I still talk to the dad," he said.
Valenciano admitted that right now he is still mending a broken heart and that his work as guest-judge for "It's Showtime" helped him recover from his failed relationship.
"But I can say that this is the best start that ever happened in my life. The best year that happened that I started fresh and started new. You know di ba nag-start ako sa Showtime nag-one whole month that really helps me because it kept me busy and kept me doing everyday," he said.
