MANILA, Philippines – Miss Universe 2011 third runner-up Shamcey Supsup denied accusations that she is pressuring beauty queen hopefuls who are vying for the Binibining Pilipinas crown.
In an interview with “The Buzz” aired on Sunday, Supsup said she has been in the same position two years ago and she would not do anything to add more stress on the candidates.
“I was at that place before. Alam ko ang feeling nila, they don't need more pressure. Ayaw ko na dumagdag sa stress,” she said.
Supsup said she just wants to be around the contestants to motivate them, as one of them will represent the country in this year’s Miss Universe pageant.
The country's last best finish in the international pageant was Janine Tugonon’s feat last year. Prior, it was that of the first runner-up win of Miriam Quiambao in 1999.
Venus Raj and Supsup finished fourth and third runner-up, respectively, in 2010 and 2011.
The country is still hoping to produce its third Miss Universe winner after Gloria Diaz in 1969 and Margie Moran in 1973.
