MANILA, Philippines – The Kapamilya network’s newest television series “Apoy Sa Dagat” continues to capture the hearts of the viewers as it flared to its record high ratings last Friday.

The said episode showed actress Angelica Panganiban and actor Piolo Pascual for the first time portraying the grown-up characters of Serena and Ruben.

Based on the latest data from Kantar Media, “Apoy Sa Dagat” registered 27.6% in national TV ratings compared to its two rival shows in GMA namely “Pahiram ng Sandali” with 16.1% and “Temptation of Wife” that only got 18.3% national TV ratings.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, Panganiban said she feels pressured to maintain the good ratings but she is also confident that viewers will continue to support them.

“Actually mas na-pressure pa nga kami nung inangat kami [ng timeslot] eh. Nung inangat kami, nanginig kaming lahat. Kaya rin siguro ganito kami kasaya ngayon dahil naka-survive kami and naging maganda ang pagtanggap ng tao sa timeslot namin,” she said.

This was also the sentiment of Panganiban and Pascual’s co-star Diether Ocampo.

“We have to give it to all those people na naging parte ng proyektong ito. Not just us... Malaking bagay sa amin kasi bihira na makabuo ng ganitong klaseng team. We are hoping na magtuloy-tuloy po ang pag-aapoy ng bawat sandali sa gabi,” Ocampo said.

As for Pascual, he said: “Regardless of your timeslot, mapasama ka lang sa primetime block, it’s a blessing already. It’s out of our hands.”

“Apoy Sa Dagat” airs every weeknights at 9 p.m. after “Ina Kapatid Anak” on ABS-CBN.
