MANILA, Philippines – Actor Gerald Anderson knows only too well that in show business you really cannot please everybody.
Case in point: his recent involvement with actress Maja Salvador.
Several netizens have been bashing Anderson following his admission that he would like to pursue Salvador, who happens to be the best friend of his former girlfriend Kim Chiu.
“You know, lumalaki ako na gusto ko… lalo na po ‘yung mga tao sa paligid ko… I want to keep everybody happy, please everybody. Pero sa mga natutunan ko sa loob ng six years sa showbiz hindi magagawa ‘yan no matter [how hard you try]. It doesn’t matter kung sino ka, may kasalanan ka man o wala, you cannot please everybody,” he told entertainment website Push.com.ph.
While he does not have a Twitter acount, Anderson said some people make an effort to berate him in his official Instagram account.
But instead of dwelling with the negativity, Anderson said he just keeps himself busy with work. He said he also just reads positive comments like those praising his acting skills.
“Alam mong may ginagawa kang tama kasi parang lumabas namang maganda. Masaya ako sa mga ganon,” he said.
Anderson said he also has the support of his family, which he considers the most important.
“Kumbaga sila ‘yung supporters mo, sila ang nagmamahal sa ‘yo no matter what. [Kung ano man] ang gagawin mo through success and failures nandyan sila,” he said.
Anderson also shared that his father advised him to just be strong, follow his heart and do what makes him happy.
Aside from intrigues concerning Salvador and Chiu, Anderson was also in hot water recently after it was rumored that he was the reason veteran actress Maricel Soriano left his upcoming series “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin.”
Star Magic, ABS-CBN's talent management arm, however, backed Anderson's "unassailable personal character and professional behavior," following the alleged incident.
