MANILA -- "Annaliza" recently hit a new all-time high rating, according to Kantar Media, making it the third most watched program in the Philippines for the day.

The primetime series' February 12 episode, where the titular character portrayed by Andrea Brillantes was taken hostage, garnered a nationwide rating of 27.8%, while its competing program on GMA-7 only registered 7.2%.

The strong viewership of "Annaliza" for that day ranked it only below "Honesto" and "TV Patrol," respectively, as measured by Kantar Media using a panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes.

The previous highest rating of the series was 25.4% last August 12.

"Annaliza," a remake of the 1980 series starring the late Julie Vega, has maintained its lead in national TV ratings since it May 2012 debut.

In January 2014, it ranked seventh in top 15 programs in the country, with an average national audience share of 22.4%.

Directed by Theodore Boborol and Cathy Camarillo, "Annaliza" also stars Zanjoe Marudo, Denise Laurel, Kaye Abad, and Carlo Aquino.

"Annaliza" airs weeknights at 5:50 p.m. after "Princess Hours."
