MANILA, Philippines – Star Cinema's Valentine offering "A Moment in Time" earned an estimated P34,857,270 in its first five days in theaters, lastest data from the website Box Office Mojo showed.

But the romantic drama headline by the love team of Coco Martin and Julia Montes was no match for the Hollywood blockbuster "A Good Day to Die Hard," which was the top-grossing movie in the Philippines for the period February 13 to 17. The fifth instalment of the action movie franchise starring Bruce Willis earned an estimated P45,301,894 on its first weekend.

"A Moment in Time," which is Star Cinema’s first local release in 2013 after a highly successful showing during the Metro Manila Film Festival, played in only 140 screens and bowed at No. 2. “A Good Day to Die Hard” played in more theaters with 175.

For Martin, who first gained notice in independent movies before shifting his attention to TV, “A Moment in Time” is shaping up to be his biggest movie hit so far. His previous movie, "Born to Love You," which also marked the screen debut of singer Angeline Quinto, earned an estimated P29,713,801 in its first five days in theaters in May last year.

“Born to Love You” eventually grossed an estimated P53.9 million during its entire run.

Meanwhile, Jackie Chan’s latest action caper “Chinese Zodiac,” which is released by Star Cinema in the Philippines, has now grossed an estimated P89,578,178 after three weeks in local theaters.

The action-horror movie “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters” is the biggest hit so far in the Philippines for this year. The movie starring Jeremy Renner of “Bourne Legacy” fame has earned an estimated P108,462,143 after four weeks of release.
