MANILA, Philippines – "Paraiso" lead stars Jessy Mendiola and Matteo Guidicelli admitted that they have a blooming relationship.
Although not yet officially a couple, the Kapamilya stars expressed their love for each other during an interview with "Showbiz Inside Report" aired Saturday.
The two started working together in mid-2012 as the lead characters in the afternoon series "Paraiso," their first project as a "love team."
On the set of the "Precious Hearts Romances" offering, Mendiola and Guidicelli eventually became close friends.
Asked on his first impressions of the 20-year-old actress, Guidicelli said, "Nung nakikita ko si Jessy sa pictures, this is like wow, she's like Kristine Hermosa, super beautiful."
"It's also intimidating to approach Jessy, kasi parang meron siyang wall eh," he said.
Mendiola echoed the 22-year-old actor's statement, when asked on her first impressions of Guidicelli. "Suplado at mayabang. Very intimidating at nakakahiyang lapitan," she said.
Eight months since they became co-stars, however, their friendship has bloomed into a romantic relationship, both Star Magic talents admitted.
"Hindi ko sasabihin na nanliligaw ako agad, pero I just want to be the best for Jessy, and I want to give her what makes her happy. If something happens from there, e 'di maganda. Let's see where it will bring us," Guidicelli said.
On the qualities she looks for in potential boyfriend, Mendiola said, "Sino ba naman may ayaw ng understanding, ng caring, sweet or gwapo? But I guess it's just kung 'yun na, 'yun na 'yun."
Asked if there's a chance she and Guidicelli can become an official couple, the actress said, "Sabihan na lang natin na getting there. Still waiting...Syempre naman."
Before her "Paraiso" co-star, Mendiola was romantically linked to actor JM de Guzman. Guidicelli's breakup with former girlfriend, actress Maja Salvador, meanwhile, was confirmed by the "Ina, Kapatid, Anak" star in August last year.
