Celebrities unite in EDSA 25th anniversary grand celebration

MANILA, Philippines – Big names from the entertainment industry have gathered to take part in the grand celebration of the 25th anniversary of the EDSA People Power revolution.

Spotted in the momentous event were Dingdong Dantes, Mikee Cojuangco, Jamie Rivera, Bugoy Drilon and Regine Velasquez, among others.

According to Dantes, we should always relive the real meaning of EDSA People Power.

“It's our duty and responsibility to let the youth know about EDSA People Power,” he said.

For Cojuangco, she said we Filipinos must always be proud of this historic moment that we’ve done in past.

“Shining moment 'to sa kasaysayan ng Pilipinas kaya dapat parati nating pinaaalala sa mga sarili natin na ito kami, Pilipino kami,” she said.

Among the artists who performed for the night were singers Laarni Lozada and Rhap Salazar.

Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez also staged EDSA 1's theme song "Magkaisa."

International singer apl.d.ap of The Black Eyed Peas is also expected to stage special production numbers.

Meanwhile, singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid, who was appointed as head entertainment convenor of the EDSA celebration, expressed his gratitude to all the artists who did not have second thoughts in taking part in this celebration.

“Nakakatuwa na ang mga artists natin eh isang tawag lang they agreed to perform,” he said.

The event was hosted by the youngest sister of the President, Kris Aquino, together with Ruffa Gutierrez, Ai-ai Delas Alas. – Report from Gretchen Fullido, ABS-CBN News
