|'Paraiso' lead stars Jessy Mendiola and Matteo Guidicelli
MANILA, Philippines – After their revealing interview on “Showbiz Inside Report” (SIR) last Saturday, actor Matteo Guidicelli clarified that he and actress Jessy Mendiola never admitted that they are already a couple.
Speaking to ABS-CBN News after the finals night of Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs on Sunday, Guidicelli said he just told Mendiola that he loves her and is enjoying her company.
“Wala kaming inamin. We just said... I just said mahal ko si Jessy bilang isang kaibigan at bilang isang partner sa show. 'Yun lang,” he said.
Saying their relationship is “almost” there, the actor said they have decided to concentrate on their careers first.
“Concentrate muna sa trabaho, races, triathlon. Kailangan focused talaga ako kasi mahirap sa schedule and everything. Marami, marami [ang magagandang bagay about Jessy]. She’s a wonderful person, talented and very very good,” he said.
During their “SIR” interview, Mendiola confirmed that Guidicelli stands a chance to become her boyfriend.
"Sabihan na lang natin na getting there. Still waiting...Syempre naman," she had said.
The two started working together in mid-2012 as the lead stars in the afternoon series "Paraiso," their first project as a "love team."
On the set of the "Precious Hearts Romances" offering, Mendiola and Guidicelli eventually became close friends.
Before her "Paraiso" co-star, Mendiola was romantically linked to actor JM de Guzman. Guidicelli's breakup with former girlfriend, actress Maja Salvador, meanwhile, was confirmed by the "Ina, Kapatid, Anak" star in August last year.
