'Honesto' hits new all-time high rating

MANILA - With less than two weeks before its hotly anticipated finale, the primetime series starring Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla soared in nationwide ratings on Monday and Tuesday, according to Kantar Media.

"Got to Believe" garnered 33.1% in national TV ratings on February 24 and 25, based on data using a panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes, while its competing program aired on GMA-7, "Carmela," only registered 15.3% and 15.9% on the same days, respectively.

Directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, Richard Arellano, and Ricky Rivero, the ABS-CBN series centers on Chichay (Bernardo) and Joaquin (Padilla), childhood friends who meet again as teenagers in unusual circumstances.

A simple girl with big dreams for her family, Chichay becomes a nanny for the rich and mischievious Joaquin, whose parents are on the verge of separating. Although the two fall in love, a tragic accident from their past resurfaces, threatening their relationship as well as Joaquin's life.

The second primetime series to be top-billed by Bernardo and Padilla, "Got to Believe" premiered last August 26 and has consistently been No. 1 in its time slot.

It will air its final episode on March 7.

Also counting down to its last weeks on air, ABS-CBN's "Honesto" marked a milestone rating on February 24, according to the same nationwide data from Kantar Media.

The series, which airs before "Got to Believe," registered 35.6% in national TV ratings on that day -- its highest since it debuted October. On the other hand, rival show "Adarna" only garnered 17.1%.

"Honesto" will also air its final episode in March, after nearly four months as the No. 1 primetime show in the Philippines.

Directed by Jerry Sineneng, Darnel Villaflor, and Tots Mariscal, "Honesto" stars Raikko Mateo in the title role. He is joined in the cast by Paulo Avelino, Cristine Reyes, Eddie Garcia, Janice de Belen, Nonie Buencamino, Melissa Ricks, and Joseph Marco.
