Charice cries as feud between ma, grandma rages on
MANILA, Philippines – Amid the public bickering between her mother and grandmother, Charice guested on “The Buzz” Sunday to shoot down anew all speculations hounding her and her family.
Charice has finally set the record straight amid claims by her grandmother, Tess Relucio, that the alleged boyfriend of her mother, Raquel Pempengco, had stolen some valuables from them.
She maintained that there was no truth to Relucio’s latest allegation.
The 17-year-old “Note to God” singer said she was in Vienna performing in local communities when she heard about the rumors. She said she was not able to address the issue immediately because of her busy schedule.
It was early last month when Relucio publicly aired her resentment toward her daughter Raquel. The root of the issue was apparently connected to Raquel’s financial assistance to her parents.
In her previous interview, Raquel admitted that she and her mother had a falling out years ago, and that they were never that close since she was young.
Charice admitted that she cannot meddle in the ongoing dispute between her mother and grandmother. "HIndi ko po masasabing mapagbabati. Ayoko pong makialam."
She added: "Hindi naman po ako galit. Maayos naman po kami [ng lola ko]. Nagkita kami last year... Hindi ko po maintindihan kung anong nangyayari. Concerned lang naman kami sa inyo... ['Yong] makakabuti lang
po sa pamilya natin ang iniisip namin."
When asked to give a message to her mom, Charice, who turned teary-eyed, said: "Matapang siya. Kung ako ang nasa sitwasyon niya sobrang sakit, nafe-feel ko ang pain niya. Stay strong kasi hindi lang ito ang darating sa kanya. Kung maraming bumabatikos sa akin, mas maraming darating sa kanya kasi siya ang mommy ko."
‘FalseVoice’
Charice, dubbed by Oprah Winfrey as the most talented girl in the world, also refuted rumors involving Dave Dueñas, who is said to be behind the young singer’s international success.
Rumor has it that the singer, who is at the height of her career, would now brush off Dueñas.
"’Yan ang masasabi kong hindi totoo. Kasi kahit anong mangyari sa akin involved si ‘FalseVoice,’ si Kuya Dave," Charice said. "Kamakailan lang po noong nag-'Singapore Idol' ako ay isinama ko po siya."
Dueñas, who uses the handle “FalseVoice” on YouTube, has uploaded Charice’s performances on the video-sharing Web site when the latter was still a struggling singer.
These videos paved the way for Charice’s success. Influential personalities like Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres saw her performances on YouTube. Impressed, they then invited her to their respective shows in the United States.
Winfrey herself is still involved in Charice’s international career.
‘Pyramid’
Here’s good news. Charice’s latest single “Pyramid” reached No. 1 on US chart remix category, beating Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance.”
"Salamat sa lahat nang nag-download ng Pyramid kasi hindi pa naman official na lumalabas ‘yung album, yung single pa lang. So, thank you so much sa lahat nang nag-download,” she said.
“Abangan niyo this Tuesday. Lalabas na po ‘yung music video namin ni [rapper] Iyaz," she added.
Charice’s debut international album, which carries “Note To God” and “Pyramid,” is expected to be released in May.
