Where is Hero Angeles now?
MANILA, Philippines -- After four years of absence from showbiz, Hero Angeles is making a comeback.
The former Kapamilya star on Monday attended the premiere night of "Fighting Chefs," where he stars alongside the film's director Ronnie Ricketts. The debut screening at Robinsons Galliera in Ortigas is Angeles' first public appearance as an actor promoting a big screen project.
The action flick also stars Mark Gil, Arci Munoz, Chef Boy Logro, Vandolph, John Hall, Joross Gamboa, Jade Lopez and Jeffrey Santos.
In "Fighting Chefs," Angeles plays a restaurant cook who is caught in a clash to protect the business against perpetrators.
This is Angeles first major film or TV role since 2009, when he last appeared in a number of TV series and a horror flick.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Monday, the "Bcuz of U" star expressed happiness over finally returning to acting. Moving forward, Angeles said he hopes to work with Kapamilya actresses Kim Chiu and Maja Salvador.
The actor rose to fame after earning the "Grand Teen Questor" title in the Kapamilya reality talent search "Star Circle Quest" in 2004, which also launched his love team with Korean Sandara Park.
But Angeles' thriving career slowly fizzled as he figured in arguments with the entertainment press and officials of ABS-CBN over alleged disagreements on career path.
In 2008, Angeles formally transferred to GMA7 where he starred in a number of television series. His last major TV project was in 2009.
In June last year, Angeles maintained that the departure of Park cost him several projects. The Korean actress returned to her native country in 2007 to pursue a similar career there. She is now one-fourth of the popular K-pop girl group 2NE1.
To be released by Viva Films, "Fighting Chefs" will hit theaters nationwide on March 6.
