Win or lose, Edu to quit showbiz
MANILA, Philippines - Administration vice presidential bet Edu Manzano on Saturday said win or lose, he will retire from show business after the elections.
In an interview in Zamboanga City, Manzano said 20 years in the movie industry is enough for him and perhaps, his fans, too.
He also said that should he not win in the polls, there are other ways to serve the public.
Manzano is planning to join Gawad Kalinga (GK), which provides permanent housing to the less fortunate.
He again reiterated that he was not withdrawing from the vice-presidential race despite his low popularity ratings, including the 2% support in the latest Pulse Asia survey conducted from February 21-25.
Manzano said his party, the Lakas-Kampi-Christian Muslim Democrats, is looking into the problems in their campaign, such as lack of transportation.
'Don't force kids to join showbiz'
Meanwhile, Manzano said he was against parents forcing their children to enter talent search competitions just to earn money and gain popularity.
What's more important, he said, was for children to finish school before trying out in show business.
Manzano proceeded to Lamitan City in Basilan for a program of freemasons.
After his Lamitan City visit, Manzano was scheduled to return to Manila to join Gilbert Teodoro, presidential candidate of the Lakas-Kampi-CMD.
On Saturday, Teodoro made the rounds in Compostela Valley in Mindanao and attended the 3rd Bulawan Festival.
He called on voters not to be swayed by recent surveys which put him at 4th place with 7% support. (Read: Noynoy regains lead; Villar drops 6 points)
Teodoro said the outcome of the May 10 elections will not be dictated by survey figures.
"Di ako naniniwala dun, anu na yun eh, napruprove sa rural areas na mga survey lahat-lahat iba ang nagreregister kaya wag na sana nilang gawing conditioning tool ng mga tao para sa ganun, yung tunay na boses ng ating mga kababayan ang lumabas," he said. -- report from Leila Vicente, ABS-CBN News; ANC

Edu should have had think twice
Here is another classic example of those individual who doesn't think twice before making a giant leap. I am wondering what was Edu thinking about when he decided to run for VP instead of heeding, as he or others claim, to run for a senatorial slate? Does he think that 20,000 or more viewers (max of 1 M viewers) represent the million voters that will support him all the way? At his age, he should have known that his party would just use him as a crowd gatherer during campaign sorties. His campaign manager should have known that. I do. Sayang.
Gibo and Edu are just for display
These two i believe were paid to stand as candidates for their party. I suppose that is also the reason why Edu is retiring, he must have been paid handsomely, more than enough to relax for the rest of his life.
If Gibo is really intelligent, he must know what it is to be 'used', or he is just 'acting' it.

That is a correct path you are contemplating Edu. Having shamed yourself, there is really no other alternative. And to accept the invitation here to join the Nacionalista party is only going to make it worst. Had you not allowed yourself to be hood winked by Puno and stood by your principles, if you really had one, and stick to your original plan of joining the liberal party senatorial slate, you will definitely be a shoo-in for the first place. What an opportunity lost for you! It's a good thing though for the Filipino people because you unravel soon enough.
