KC wants to follow Jolie, Barrymore's example
KC Concepcion said she is planning to either write a book tackling her work as a national ambassador against hunger for United Nations-World Food Programme (UN-WFP) or blog about her experience.
Concepcion said she wants to follow the example of Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Drew Barrymore.
Jolie, the goodwill ambassador for the UN Refugee Agency, chronicled her field missions in her book "Notes From My Travels" while Barrymore, another UN-WFP ambassador, shared her experience in Africa through her blog.
Concepcion also disclosed that she might see Barrymore in Rome, Italy on March 27 when she meets with the UN-WFP executives.
“It’s International Women’s Month so baka. Pero nagbibigay pugay din si Drew doon sa headquarters, so, sana nandoon siya para bonding kami,” she said.
In May 2007, Barrymore was named as an ambassador against hunger. It was last year when Concepcion, daughter of Megastar Sharon Cuneta, accepted the honor of being WFP’s symbol.
On her meeting with UN-WFP officials, meanwhile, the young actress said: “Ikukuwento ko sa kanila kung sino ako at anong nagawa namin dito sa WFP sa Pilipinas, kung ano ang nagawa sa Mindanao.”
Concepcion said as of now it is impossible for her to go to Mindanao and personally begin the campaign against hunger there due to security reasons.
“Delekado pa ngayon madami ang nadi-displace pero hopefully soon. Kung ako masusunod mag-i-immerse talaga ako kung anonymous lang ako," she added.
